Annie Donahue, LCSW
I help high-functioning women, working moms, caregivers, and professionals who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or constantly “on” reconnect with themselves, set healthier boundaries, and create a life that feels more balanced, grounded, and sustainable.
Many of the clients I work with are the people others depend on. They are successful, capable, and outwardly holding everything together—while internally feeling anxious, depleted, emotionally stretched thin, or disconnected from themselves. Some are navigating demanding careers in healthcare, law, education, or caregiving roles where the pressure to keep performing never fully turns off. Others are moving through major life transitions, burnout, motherhood, midlife changes, or the emotional shifts that can come with perimenopause and wondering why the strategies that once worked no longer seem to help.
Often, clients come to therapy feeling like they have spent years prioritizing everyone else’s needs while quietly losing touch with their own.
My work focuses on helping you slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and develop healthier ways of responding to stress so you can feel more emotionally present, more connected to yourself, and less consumed by constant pressure and overwhelm.
I provide telehealth therapy throughout New Jersey for adults seeking a supportive, grounded, and practical space to navigate anxiety, burnout, life transitions, and emotional exhaustion.

My Approach
I take a trauma-informed, person-centered approach that balances insight, emotional support, and practical tools for change.
My work integrates:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Mindfulness-based strategies
DBT-informed techniques
Solution-Focused Therapy
Strengths-based support
I believe therapy should be individualized, collaborative, and grounded in real life. Together, we work to better understand your emotional patterns, reduce overwhelm, and create healthier ways of coping that feel sustainable—not performative.
I also bring a strong understanding of how chronic stress, caregiving roles, perfectionism, and major hormonal or life transitions can impact emotional wellbeing, relationships, identity, and nervous system regulation over time.
What It’s Like to Work with Me
My style is warm, supportive, and genuine. Therapy with me feels collaborative, honest, and grounded—not cold or overly clinical.
I create a space where you can exhale a bit, speak openly about what you are carrying, and feel understood without needing to minimize your stress or hold everything together perfectly. Many of my clients are used to being the “strong one” for everyone else and are not accustomed to having a space focused entirely on their needs, emotions, and wellbeing.
In our work together, we explore both the deeper patterns contributing to overwhelm and the practical changes that can help life feel more manageable day-to-day. Therapy may involve understanding relationship dynamics, improving boundaries, managing anxiety, processing transitions, or learning how to respond differently to stress and self-pressure.
My goal is to help you feel more emotionally steady, more connected to yourself, and more capable of moving through life without constantly operating in survival mode.
